Sundarakanda of Sri MS Rama Rao

As some of you know, Sri MS Rama Rao has written Sundarakanda of Valmiki Ramayana in Telugu and has sung it with utmost devotion. I have an immense respect for Sri MS Rama Rao as he is an ardent devotee of Lord Rama and Hanuman. I have, by HIS grace, by-hearted the Sundarakanda and have written it down in telugu so anyone could learn it. I made a PDF file and placed it in the “DOWNLOADS” section. Also the two parts of telugu Sundarakanda are uploaded in the “DOWNLOADS” category in .mp3 format.

I have searched for more information on Sri MS Rama Rao on the internet. He is also from Rajuhmundry (which gives me an occasion to rejoice!). I hope I get a chance to meet any of his descendents, who are very blessed. I will try to find more information on this divine personality and post it on this site.

    regarding M.S.Ramao garu of Sundarakanda fame. we are fortunate to stay very close to there house in chikkadpally. i had attended one or two ramayana discourses along with my mother when i was 6-7 years old in 1978 or so. my mother atttended many discourses of him. i remember vividly one incident (there was a belief that whenever he gave discourse on ramayana Lord Hanuman would sit somewhere and listen to it.so it happened that day when he was giving discourse a teenage boy of about 16 -18 rushed to the stage and violently jumping. people got scared.. 4-5 men also could not stop him, then Sri M.S.Rama Rao garu applied hanuman sindhoor(tilak) on that boy’s fore head and calmness returned.
    i was also fortunate to hear Sri M.S.Rama Rao ‘son discourses also on ramayana and sundarakanda . M.S.Rama Rao’s house is at Chikkadpalli (very near to R.T.C X roads) near Tygaraja gana sabha very near to Hanuman temple. the street there is named after M.S.Rama Rao and their house is named Sundara Nilayam . so u can easily find more information if u are in Hyderabad city.

    Many thanks for the pdf text. While listening to Sundarakaanda on my ipod today, I had a thought to transcribe it so I can enjoy the melodious lyrics myself. And then, wanting to know more about Mr. MS Rama Rao’s other works, I searched on the web and came to your site. And you have the entire Sundarakanda in pdf! This is awesome!

    While I am not very religious, I grew up reading Ramayana, Mahabharata and many of our mythologies; Listening to Sri Rama Rao’s Sundarakaanda on the radio every morning.

    His melodious lyrics are incredible, fluid and sometimes send up shivers (in a nice way) as he eloquently, effortlessly and mellifluously describes various parts of this great chapter in Ramayana.

    I heard that there was another audio cassette/cd of his other than Sundarakaanda. If I find more info, I’ll post it here.

    It is with HIS grace and benevolance that works like these are still available and accessable, paving way to memorise the sweetest presentation of the sweetest part of the entire Ramayana.

    I think you can get the Audio CD of MS Rama Rao’s Sundarakanda in any of good audio shops in Hyderabad / Bangalore or any big city in AP. Cassettes also are available

  57. MS Rama Rao had not known the whereabouts of his son who was in the Indian army and has taken part in some war.
    Later he had run into huge losses and lost a lot of money.
    Then he had written “SUNDARAKANDA”.. after which he got his son back safely and with “SUNDARAKANDA” rage, the records were sold in huge numbers and he got all his money back.
